NotRenewing.com is a marketplace where domain owners list names they have decided not to renew, and buyers purchase them at a flat price. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details. Your email address, and a password managed by our authentication provider. If you sign in with a one-time email link, we do not hold a password at all.
- Listing details. The domain names you list, their registrar, expiration dates, categories, prices, any description or logo you upload, and verification tokens used to prove you control a name.
- Seller payout details. Depending on how you choose to be paid, this can include your bank account number, routing or IFSC number, residential address, city, state, postal code, and country, or your PayPal email address, or an identifier for a connected Stripe account. Payment providers require this information to move money to you and to meet their own regulatory checks.
- Communications. Messages you send us through the contact form or by email, and your preferences for newsletters and keyword alerts.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data. IP address, browser user agent, device and operating system, referring page, and the pages you view on the site.
- Usage data. Which listings you view or like, and how you move through the site. View and like counts are aggregated and shown publicly on listings, but they are not attributed to you by name.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See section 5.
Information we do not collect
We never receive or store your full payment card number. Card details are entered directly with Stripe or PayPal and never reach our servers. We do not collect government identity documents, biometric information, or precise GPS location.
2. How we use your information
- To create and operate your account and authenticate you.
- To publish your listings, verify that you control the domains you list, and run the scoring that decides where listings appear.
- To process purchases, subscriptions, and seller payouts, and to handle refunds, chargebacks, and disputes.
- To send transactional email you cannot opt out of while you hold an account, such as sale notifications, transfer instructions, payout confirmations, and security notices.
- To send newsletters, keyword alerts, and product updates you have opted into. Every one of these carries an unsubscribe link.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations, including bulk listing patterns associated with fraudulent accounts.
- To measure and improve the site, and to measure our advertising. See section 4.
- To comply with legal obligations, including tax and anti-money-laundering rules that apply to our payment providers.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it with the service providers below, each of which is contractually limited to using it to provide their service to us. Section 4 covers advertising separately, because under some laws that counts as "sharing" even when no money changes hands.

We also use Anthropic, EstiBot, DataForSEO, and domain registry lookup services to score and enrich listings. These receive domain names and public registry data only, never your personal information.
We may also disclose information:
- Publicly, by design. Your listings, including the domain name and any description or logo you add, are public. Your seller profile page is public. Your email address and payout details are never shown publicly.
- To a buyer or seller in a transaction, to the limited extent needed to complete a domain transfer.
- For legal reasons, when required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
- In a business transfer, if NotRenewing is acquired or merged, in which case we will give notice before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
4. Advertising and analytics
We run advertising on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Reddit. To measure whether those ads work, our site includes their tracking pixels, and our servers send matching conversion events directly to them. Between them these tell Meta and Reddit that a browser visited certain pages and took certain actions, such as submitting a listing or completing a purchase.
Where we send an email address for this purpose, it is hashed before it leaves our servers, meaning it is converted into an irreversible string. Your IP address and browser user agent are sent unhashed, because the advertising platforms use them for matching and cannot reverse a hash.
Under California law and several other US state privacy laws, this activity is "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, even though we receive no money for it. You have the right to opt out, and you can do it yourself in one click at Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, linked from the footer of every page. No account is needed. Opting out stops the Meta and Reddit pixels from loading in your browser and stops us sending them conversion events about you from our servers.
If you would rather we did it for you, email support@notrenewing.com with the subject line "Do Not Share My Personal Information" and we will apply it. You can also block these technologies in your browser, or use the opt-out controls that Meta and Reddit provide directly.
We do not run behavioural advertising toward anyone we know to be under 18, and we do not share information for advertising where a user has told us they are a resident of a jurisdiction requiring prior consent and has not given it.
5. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar browser storage:
- Strictly necessary. Authentication cookies that keep you signed in, and security cookies set by Stripe to detect fraud. The site does not work without these, so they are not subject to consent.
- Analytics. Google Analytics cookies that measure page views and traffic sources.
- Advertising. Cookies set by Meta and Reddit to attribute ad clicks to later actions.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will sign you out and prevent purchases from completing.
If you are in the UK, EU, or EEA, we do not set the advertising cookies at all until you agree. You will see a banner asking on your first visit, and choosing Reject means the Meta and Reddit pixels are never loaded. Elsewhere those cookies are on by default and you can switch them off at any time at Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
6. Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate. Most of it you can edit yourself in your account settings.
- Delete your account and personal information. We may need to retain some records, see section 7.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Opt out of marketing email, using the unsubscribe link in any such message or by changing your notification settings.
- Opt out of sharing for advertising, as described in section 4.
California residents have the rights above under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell personal information for money, and we share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as described in section 4.
Residents of other US states with comprehensive privacy laws, including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, and Oregon, have broadly equivalent rights and may appeal a refused request by replying to our decision.
If you are in the UK, EU, or EEA, our legal bases are: performance of a contract, for running your account and completing transactions; legal obligation, for tax and financial records; legitimate interests, for fraud prevention, security, and basic analytics; and consent, for marketing email and advertising cookies, which you may withdraw at any time. You also have the right to object to processing and to complain to your national supervisory authority.
You can do most of this yourself. Signed in, visit Download or Delete My Data to export everything we hold about you as a file, or to close your account. Advertising is handled separately at Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, which needs no account at all.
Closing your account removes your personal information, takes down your listings, clears your stored bank details straight away, and disables your login. If you are still owed money, owe a fee, or have sold a domain you have not yet transferred, we will ask you to settle that first rather than close the account and strand it.
For anything else, or if you would rather we did it for you, email support@notrenewing.com from the address on your account. We respond within 45 days, and will tell you if we need longer. We may ask you to confirm control of the account before we act, because these requests are a common route for account takeover.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and listing data: while your account is open, and for 12 months after you close it, so that a disputed transfer or chargeback can still be resolved.
- Transaction and payout records: seven years, because tax and financial regulations require it. This includes records of money sent to you, and it survives account deletion.
- Payout bank details: deleted within 90 days of you removing the payout method or closing your account, except where a payout is still in flight or disputed.
- Analytics and advertising data: retained by those providers under their own schedules, typically 14 months or less for Google Analytics.
- Support email: three years.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest by our hosting providers. Access to production data is limited to the operator of the site. Payout bank details are stored in our database and transmitted only to the payment provider executing the payout. Card numbers never touch our systems.
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and any regulator required, without undue delay.
9. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers are largely US-based, so if you use NotRenewing from outside the US, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, our providers rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent mechanism for these transfers.
10. Children
NotRenewing is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and the date at the bottom always reflects the most recent revision. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold about you, we will email account holders before it takes effect.
